On December 9th 2021, the handover ceremony was held for the China Aid Cambodia Rural Water Supply Project- Phase II. H.E. OUK Rabun, Cambodian Rural Development Minister and Hon. Wu Guoquan, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of China in Cambodia, attended the ceremony and signed the taking-over certificate. Nearly 400 people attended the ceremony.
OUK Rabun extended the deep gratitude to the people and government of China and believed that the project is crucial to promote the rural economic development and to improve people’s livelihood in Cambodia. He highly praised the successful completion of the project with efficiency by CJIC and its Cambodian and Chinese project staff who had overcome the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. He expressed that the boreholes and the ponds would contribute to improve the local living condition, reduce the poverty, to promote the rural economic growth and narrow the urban-rural development gap.
Wu Guoquan first extended the appreciation to the Cambodian and Chinese engineering and technical personnel for their hard work during the Covid-19 pandemic to ensure the high-quality and efficient completion of the project. He said that since its construction, the China-Aid rural water supply project had helped Cambodia to effectively solve the problems relating to the drinking water sources and its sanitation for broad masses of the rural people, raised the communities’ abilities to resist the epidemic and improved the villagers’ living quality and production condition. Wu believed that more and more livelihood projects would be implemented, more and more boreholes for public benefits and for friendship would emerge with the ever-deepening bilateral friendly and cooperative relations.
